wedding venue hopscotch….the next few were everywhere!

Part of what I love about this job is the travel. I get to go to new wedding venues, I get to go to lots of different counties…and this year, countries too! The next few weddings in this installment of last years wedding adventures wasn’t far and wide, but it did take me to wedding venues I hadn’t been before, but also it mixed the variety of weddings I did. The first one wasn’t far though….just a very different vibe….

The Rupert Brooke - Grantchester, Cambridge

Bea and Callum did things a little differently…..a church wedding in Trumpington Cambridge, but then on to the famous Rupert Brooke pub in Grantchester, Cambridge, a storied and historied small but beautiful village on the outskirts of the city as their wedding venue for a reception and a good old party! What a delight! They did their wedding their way and it was absolutely what they wanted. The atmosphere was loose, fun, smiling, happy, easy going…everything about it was both a traditional wedding and a totally modern wedding at the same time. To have a pub as a wedding venue was a masterstroke too. The balcony on the summers day was gorgeous, it left people to do as they please and the catering was on hand right there. A great day was had by all!

Crondon Park - Ingatestone, Essex

Crondon Park is an Essex wedding venue that I have actually been to a couple of times and it’s always a pleasure there. Set in the gorgeous Essex countryside, it’s a all enclosed beautiful venue that can cater for both indoors and outdoors, with an old converted barn to allow the festivities to happen. Claire and Dave’s wedding there last year was blessed with sunshine and hilarity, with a chilled vibe which the venue fit really well. Great staff, brilliantly catered for, it’s a place I really hope to get back to again soon.

St Ives Golf Club - Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

It had been a VERY long time since I had done a wedding at a golf club. They used to be quite common but they don’t seem to happen as much nowadays. But this one was a little different and was at a golf club for a reason. Louise and Tinneisha had done the legal thing the year before in a quiet and small registry office ceremony. They waited for a year for various reasons to then be able to get all their friends and family together and have a great big party! Unfortunately, their original venue fell through, but St Ives Golf Club came good at the last minute and saved the day! Not only did they make a date free, but they went out of their way to accommodate not only the celebrations, but the party, the catering and even a trip around the golf course on buggies for all of us to go and take some awesome photos! Absolute shout out to St Ives Golf Club for coming up roses at the last minute in the way they did! As it turned out to be a fantastic day!

Orton Hall - Peterborough, Cambridgshire

Last but not least for todays installment, I was off to another wedding venue I hadn’t been to before. Orton Hall in Peterborough Cambridgeshire was yet another “last minute” change to an original venue that fell through and Orton Hall came through with flying colours. Tina and Mark’s wedding was blessed with great weather and the venue suited the vibe so nicely. Not quite your traditional wedding, but not quite the completely “out there” wedding either. Orton Hall has that stately home feel but completely accessible and cosy and inviting too. It made for a perfect place for Tina and Mark to let their hair down with friends and family.

That’s it for this one. One more blog post to go and that will have covered all of my excursions to wedding venues from last year. Keep posted for another to come!
