Originally from the very thick of Dudley in the West Midlands (Ow am ya love? Yow want a kippa tie?), I now live just outside the tiny and beautiful Cambridgeshire city of Ely with my whole world...my amazing wife, two utterly bananas kids and a the occasional visit from a cat that’s NOT ours called Varjak (kids named it not me). She’s cute and visits most days, so we let her off!
Believe it or not, I used to be a scientist!
Yep. (See photo. That’s me re-enacting the Lion King with a box of test tubes. Classy). I wasn’t a mad scientist inventing things like invisible houses or bulletproof chocolate, that kind of thing. Noooo. Proper science. I worked in genetics for 19 years, but finally decided I didn't want to do it anymore.
And now I am doing this! Something I LOVE! Long story….I’ll tell you when we meet….

Music is my passion. My origins in music was really metal, rock, indie and all that stuff, but the older I got, the more diverse my music. Now, I am on the lookout for anything new while still loving the old stuff! If you want to have a quick idea of what I am listening to generally, click on the Playlist on Spotify and have a listen. Bit of everything…..from Leftfield and Prodigy to The Stone Roses and Rage Against the Machine! There is so much more I could have put on this haha!
Red wine…..oh my red wine….oh how I love you so much. Argentinian Malbec, big, heavy, fruity? Oh YES please….
I’m obsessed by tea. I probably drink far too much if it. If I don’t get my cuppa in the morning, I am done for.
I love Aston Villa….yep, there you go. Think I lost you there didn’t I? Sorry….
I’ve rediscovered my love of Lego because of my kids. I think I love it a little more than they do now…..
I love cars…yeah, I know. But I can’t help it, I love fast cars.…it’s in my blood. I know, I’m a terrible man….blame my late Dad. He was a mechanic. It rubbed off.
I was a black belt in Karate….no, this isn’t made up! The important word there though is “was”…..
I LOVE weddings. Yeah, you hear that from all the photographers…but no, I really do! The silly faces, the falling over, the romantic moments, the fun, love, jumping about….what’s NOT to love?
Anything else? Ok, I cried when I stood in front of the Sydney Opera House, I cried at the 1999 total eclipse, I cried when my kids were born, I cried when Villa lost the 2000 FA Cup….but I didn’t cry when my friend at school stole my ball. Go figure.
