2023 wedding photography….the next five!
My second five weddings I photographed pretty much carried on the vibe of the previous five weddings. Wedding photography, if you’re not careful, can end up being quite traditional and staid and my couples definitely aren’t that! I love that my couples see something in my wedding photography. They see themselves in images, they see that they don’t want to do the traditional thing. I hope I put that out there that I LOVE non-traditional wedding photography, I love couples being unique, doing things themselves.
And the venues help too. South Farm is always one of my favourite venues to go to. It’s utterly beautiful, can accommodate any ideas, is wonderful for wedding photography, caters for indoors and outdoor weddings and the staff are amazing. They absolutely know what they are doing and I was fortunate enough to be able to shoot a few weddings there again this year. Maisie and Simon’s wedding was just full of smiles, silliness, madness, fun and great characters and I felt sad leaving that one as Maisie and Simon were just absolute legends. Emma and Kevin’s midweek wedding was a more subdued affair, but that didn’t stop the uniqueness with their ideas and how much fun people had. A full casino, a murder mystery troupe in the daytime, a confetti pony and last by not least a………ahem……”bucking bronco” which left very little to the imagination. See what I mean how South Farm can accommdate anything? Haha!
Newton Park Barn was a new one to me though and I have to say, I can’t wait to get back. What a place! Gorgeous little barn for indoor ceremonies, LOADS of space outside and set in glorious country and farmland for some amazing wedding photography opportunities. And it helped Sarah and Jack were an awesome couple with their own unique ideas for the day, including informal wedding speeches outside in sunshine!
Then there was the pub! Haha! The Black Bull in Brampton was the location for Rachel and Alex’s VERY rainy day, but that didn’t stop the fun. Oh boy it didn’t! Plans were changed and continued to change through the day. The rain really did change things in terms of wedding photography, having to think on our feet as it was almost impossible to get anything outside through the day it was so bad. But they brushed it off and got on with it and they had a whale of a time. Beer pong, an indoor bucking bronco, serious dancing, lots of drinking and being merry……nothing stopped them!
And finally, a DIY wedding in Cambridge for Nikki and Stefan’s trans-global wedding. Nikki is Australian and her family and friends all made it over to their absolutely glorious wedding which was held in Stefan’s childhood home back garden. It was a mini festival, with a tipi, beer tent, you name it. And the location was stunning. Nikki and Stefan couldn’t have been more “cool” and utterly wonderful people and it was a seriously special day. Wedding photography? It was hard to take a bad photo!
